The Story Behind Kayal Store

I was a teacher. Then the world stopped.

When COVID hit, I didn't wait for things to go back to normal. I asked a different question:
What am I actually capable of ?

The answer took me somewhere unexpected fish farms in Tamil Nadu, in a field where women were barely visible.

I had no background in aquaculture. I had no roadmap. I learned by doing, failed by doing, and kept going anyway.

Eventually, I became one of the first women in Tamil Nadu to pioneer Biofloc fish farming. Then I started training others from farmers, women entrepreneurs, students. Hundreds of them. Watching them build something real became its own reward.

But one problem kept showing up:
People didn't trust their seafood.

They didn't know where it came from, how it was handled, what was done to it before it reached them. And honestly? Having seen the inside of this industry,I understood why.

That's why Kayal exists.

Clean sourcing. Traditional coastal flavours. Nothing hidden.

Sun-dried Nethili. Masala blends made from real coastal recipes. Seafood that tastes like Tamil Nadu's shoreline — because it actually comes from there.

No shortcuts. No inflated claims.

This isn't just a business.

It's for the farmers who deserve fair value. The women who deserve opportunity. The families who deserve to eat without doubt.

I built Kayal on the same thing I brought to every classroom:
"if you do it with integrity, it shows."
